Relax on one of the most beautiful beaches in New England; enjoy the natural beauty of the Parker River Wildlife Refuge, home to more than 300 species of birds. This island has restaurants, a convenience store and a package store. A short drive brings you to the resort city of Newburyport, a quaint New England city perfect for shopping and fine dining. The waterfront has many attractions including a boardwalk, antique shops, theatre, live concerts and many special events. There are whale watches, harbor cruises and deep-sea fishing offered all spring and summer months .Maudslay State Park along the Merrimack River has miles of hiking trails. Boston is less than an hour away by car or train, or take the scenic drive down Route 1A to other waterfront communities for shopping and restaurants. There is plenty of shopping in tax free New Hampshire and outlet malls located less than an hour away in Kittery, Maine. Golf courses are also available in the area of Newbury, Rowley, and Ipswich.
